Position Description:
The Beer Hall & Events Manager is integral in ensuring an excellent customer experience at Counter Weight Brewing. They will lead by example, set the tone and standards for excellence, and constantly look for ways to improve the customer experience. They will ensure the smooth operation of the Beer Hall by making sure it is appropriately staffed, that staff has everything they need to successfully and efficiently complete their tasks, the environment is comfortable, and that unforeseen needs are addressed quickly. They are responsible for ensuring that customers have a positive experience during their visit.
 
 
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Be an ambassador for the values of Counter Weight Brewing
  • Responsible for maintaining daily operations of the Beer Hall
  • Beer Hall staff leadership, motivation, and development including knowledge of Counter Weight products, processes, customer service, and best practices
  • Work with General Manager to ensure stock of merchandise
  • Ensure stock of Beer Hall expendable items and facilitate ordering when needed (trash bags, soap, towels, etc.)
  • Ensure stock of consumable items for the Beer Hall and order more when needed (cheese, wine, cider, snacks, etc.)
  • Analyze pricing of expendable and consumable items, and look for cost-saving measures
  • Add new snack and guest drink items to the website and menu as needed
  • Ensure a pleasant Beer Hall environment is maintained (cleanliness, temperature, music, etc.)
  • Ensure a Manager or Lead is scheduled to open and close the Beer Hall every shift
  • Ensure that Beer Hall Leads are trained and correctly performing cash handling, including counting cash and making nightly safe drops, and perform cash handling when acting as closer
  • Maintain opening/closing cleaning checklist 
  • Schedule Beer Hall staff while balancing labor costs vs. income 
  • Communicate the schedule to Beer Hall staff at least two weeks in advance
  • Ensure Full-Time Beer Hall staff are averaging 40 hours
  • Ensure Beer Hall staff are cut when necessary, and that Managers and Leads are considering Full-Time staff hours when making cuts
  • Set appropriate staffing levels considering the time of year and needs of events
  • Ensure Beer Hall staff are executing best practices when pouring/serving beer, interacting with customers, cleaning glassware, and maintaining taproom and guest area cleanliness, among other responsibilities 
  • Work with appropriate service companies to ensure continuous maintenance of the taproom and its fixtures
  • Schedule and perform annual reviews for Beer Hall staff
  • Champion the guest experience, looking for ways to improve the guest experience using best practices and procedures 
  • Keep operating procedures and training materials current
  • Step in as a Beer Hall Server when needed
  • Schedule and lead staff meetings (pre-shift, post-shift, as needed) 
  • Work with Beer Hall Lead to schedule and communicate with food trucks
  • Schedule, maintain calendar, and communicate with guests regarding private room rentals
  • Schedule varied events in Beer Hall (including but not limited to artists, purveyors, musicians, Oktoberfest, Anniversary Party, etc.) 
  • Coordinate details with outside vendors and proprietors for said events and communicate details of events to Beer Hall staff
  • Communicate and work with Brewery Operations Manager regarding any special brewery-related needs for events and/or private parties
  • Assist with marketing and social media presence ensuring that the Beer Hall and events are promoted, and that online questions are answered in a timely fashion (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, email, phone, etc.)
  • Coordinate with General Manager regarding email campaigns (mug club, events, yoga, etc.)
  • Work with the Owners to properly market the Beer Hall
  • Maintain our Mug Club program, including facilitating communication with Mug Club Members
  • Create monthly draft orders based on the time of year and events calendar
  • Run reports to analyze sales, loss, and opportunities for growth
  • Maintain accurate Beer Hall inventory in Arryved (glassware, merchandise, cans, etc.)
  • Ensure merchandise and to-go beer areas are organized and merchandised
  • Other duties as assigned 

Job Requirements:

Desired Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years managerial experience (taproom/bar setting preferred)
  • 3-5 years hospitality experience (taproom/bar setting preferred) 
 
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, kneel, sit, stoop, push, pull, and lift for extended periods of time
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell 
  • Acute sensory abilities
  • Ability to follow and effectively execute safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment, and safe chemical handling procedures in regard to taproom and guest area cleanliness
