Job Description:

At Savannah Brands we want to use the awesome produce in Africa to create authentic beverage products through our brand ‘Kenyan Originals’.
 
We are on a mission to create Africa’s leading craft beverage brand, Kenyan Originals. We make fruit ciders, made with real fruit from Kenya, craft tonics and ice teas, made with natural ingredients from Africa.
 
We are a product led company where passion for local, original, quality drinks is at the heart of what we do. Setting up operations in Africa is challenging and ensuring we are set up for sustainable growth is critical at this stage. This includes the right financial decisions, the right team and the right processes.
Our cidermaker is at the heart of delivering product innovation, quality and consistency. I am looking for an entrepreneurial cidermaker with a passion for making great craft products which they can bring to our local team.

The Head cidermaker is accountable for running, controlling and supervising the production of cider, tonics and ice teas at Savannah Brands production facility. As a young company the role will be focused on improving existing processes, hiring and training a production team and implementing quality control checks for best in class products made in Kenya.
 

Job Requirements:

  1. Product:
    • Overseeing the production process to best ensure taste and quality without compromising on cost
    • TASTE – maintaining consistency of our existing product range (4 cider variants and 4 tonic variants) whilst optimizing the taste based on consistent consumer feedback
    • QUALITY – maintaining the quality of our product to ensure we have a delicious product, made with real fruit and fit for human consumption
    • COST – maintaining or improving our taste without increasing the cost of making our product
    • SOURCING – identify the ideal spec for fruits to deliver the best quality taste and work the operations manager to source these
  2. Production:
    • Manage a production team (x2 production manager and c.6 casuals) to best maximize production of a quality product incl. night shift management.
    • Improve or establish optimum process flows to maximise output whilst maintaining quality
    • Work with to produce against forecast
  3. Innovation:

  • Work on new product ideas with CEO
  • Develop new craft ciders and tonics in collaboration with accounts and the CEO
 
  1. CAPEX:

  • Help with the implementation of CAPEX
  • Recommendations on CAPEX to optimize the quality and consistency of our products.
