The Maintenance Manager is responsible for supporting, installing, and repairing
new and used equipment throughout the facility. This role works closely with
operations leadership to improve equipment and system reliability, reduce downtime of machinery and mechanical equipment, and support continuous improvement efforts by establishing a preventative maintenance program that aligns with OEM standards. This is a permanent, full-time position based out of Beau’s All-Natural Brewery in Vankleek Hill, ON.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Properly prepare and maintain all production equipment and facility systems to ensure that peak operational efficiency is maintained at all times.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system issues (electrical, mechanical and pneumatic) in real-time as required.
  • Provide—under the direction of the Operations Director—the Senior Leadership Team with an annual maintenance budget and execution plan that supports the company’s core values of quality and safety.
  • Provide hands-on support with solving daily production issues as well as supporting continuous improvement processes by recommending solutions to address capacity, cost and quality constraints.
  • Execute minor construction projects needed to address facility and/or production equipment modifications.
  • Assist with developing and implementing a documented preventative maintenance program and schedule to OEM standards for all equipment and systems, including the management of the spare parts inventory.
  • Evaluate manufacturing performance data and make recommendations for addressing systemic issues.
  • Partner with production line operators to meet production schedules, including troubleshooting and identification of root cause issues and corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Demonstrate a leadership position within the company to assist and teach operators basic preventative maintenance procedures and adjustments to settings to improve efficiency.
  • Lead production-line team during equipment tear down, sanitation and reassembly process to ensure proper execution of procedures and minimization of downtime or changeover process time.
  • Identify process improvements resulting in cost savings, efficiency improvements, and quality or safety improvements.
  • Communicate and coordinate with outside vendors and contractors as needed to obtain guidance, quotes, etc.
  • Responsible for facility maintenance and ensuring safe work infrastructure.
  • Assist other areas of production or equipment operators as needed.
  • Maintain proper digital documentation and record keeping in relation to work priorities, orders, repairs and cost.
  • Work with the management team to resolve any known conditions potentially affecting food safety or product quality.
  • Assist in the creation, implementation and compliance of plant safety requirements as a certified management member member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Ensures maintenance of company vehicles, including forklifts and trailers, and keeps regulatory items pertaining to those vehicles current.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment, using precision measurement tools. Interpret schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair high speed and/or highly automated equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, and PLC I/O modules.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), and any/all established processes, whether established by their manager, by the company or by law.
  • Previous maintenance technician or maintenance mechanic experience, preferably in a beverage or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable learning new equipment and mechanical systems and troubleshooting under pressure
  • Experienced in the operation of a forklift, scissor lift or pallet jack, as well as other rental equipment typically used in construction of maintenance situations.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing systems and installation is an asset.
  • Sanitary and repair welding skills is an asset
  • Boiler and steam control experience is an asset
  • Working knowledge of industrial refrigeration is an asset
  • Working knowledge of temperature control systems is an asset
  • Millwright experience is an asset
  • Working knowledge of electricity (wiring 110/208/480V single and 3-phase)
  • Understanding of food safety, workplace safety, and food quality standards is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform the physical job demands.

  • Excellent attendance and performance track record.
  • Familiarity with lock out/tag out safety procedures, as well as any other federal and provincial (OSHA) standards applicable to food and beverage production facilities
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • That of a food processing facility, a warehouse facility, as well as an office environment.
  • The noise level in certain parts of the brewery can be loud, in excess of 80 dB.
  • May work regularly around high voltage lines, flame, hot water, and steam.
  • Works with hazardous materials.
  • Works near moving mechanical parts
