Job Description:

The Head Of Global Project Engineering is one of the most important roles as BrewDog grow our brewing operations around the world. They must ensure that new and existing breweries are engineered and constructed in a way that makes them safe, reliable and efficient. Working closely with senior management they also ensure that the production plant is capable of meeting production goals. They are responsible for many aspects of the production plant’s design and construction — from initial design work through to installation of additional brewing components and the handoff to the local engineering teams to maintain.
The Head Of Global Project Engineering is a part of the senior management team and participates in making the important decisions that determine brewery’s future. They have a technical engineering background and very broad knowledge concerning all technical aspects of brewing, packaging and utilities of brewery operations.

Job Requirements:

Main Duties and Responsibilities 
To include but are not limited to;
  • Is responsible for adhering to all rules, regulations, policies, programs and related BrewDog HACCP, GMP, 6S etc. to ensure safety/quality/efficiency of BrewDog projects, products, and equipment. 
  • Leads, manages, and coordinates assigned capital and expense projects of a multi-disciplined nature from conception to completion including implementation of operations and maintenance strategies.  
  • Analyses and reviews operational problems, provides engineering consultation and assistance to troubleshoot and determine fundamental causes of equipment and operational problems.  
  • Ensures processes are safe, functional and validated to perform at their design capability and inherent reliability.  
  • Improves brewery operation through process optimisation, asset improvement, and new technology utilising the techniques of problem-solving and continuous improvement.  
  • Applies BrewDog and industry standard engineering best practices, process and design standards and system design and optimisation strategies.
  • Responsible for planning and leading projects whilst working with department heads, CI managers and directors to agree the project scope, and prepare plans for each stage.
  • Executing the plan, monitoring progress and taking the necessary corrective actions to ensure the scope, products and deliverables are delivered to agreed time, cost, quality, and compliance objectives.
  • Ensuring successful delivery of multiple/complex projects throughout the global BrewDog production network.
  • Reporting progress at agreed intervals to the project board and directors.
  • Routinely engaging and communicating with internal and/or external Senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget to agreed standards and ensure the project budget and costs are managed effectively.
  • Ensure risks are identified and mitigation measures are put in place.
  • Performance management of sub-contractors while on site.
  • Works with the Commissioning Brewer during installation and commissioning, then ensures a smooth handover to production staff.
  • Improves production operations through process optimisation, asset improvement, and new technology utilising the techniques of problem-solving and continuous improvement.  
  • Collaboratively drive production and efficiency improvements across the organisation – Using CI monthly meeting to discuss issues, prioritise projects and engineer solutions.
  • Make BrewDog production facilities and equipment the best in the world through total collaboration with other related area managers and CI managers.

Additional Responsibilities:
To include but are not limited to;
  • To provide support to area Continuous Improvement Managers, to help set targets and KPI’s.
  • To provide support to BrewDog production facilities around the world when needed.
  • To complete additional tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
  • To be responsible for your own learning and development.

Key Skills
  • To read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Excellent Communication and organisation.
  • Ability to read and understand P&ID’s, spec sheets and technical drawings.
  • 4-year Engineering degree or equivalent experience required. Mechanical or Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of four years relevant project management experience in a similar production or FMCG environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and think on your feet.
  • Ability to manage contractors and projects to BrewDog standards.
  • Technical expert in production equipment.
  • Knowledge of brewing and packaging processes essential.
  • Good knowledge of electrical and electronic control systems and instrumentation and control devices, materials handling equipment and systems operations, mechanical and hydraulic.
  • Possesses ability to handle multiple projects with little guidance or direction.
  • Must possess a high proficiency in writing and developing preliminary designs and related contracts, cost estimating, project management and all other related engineering practices, including the effect on maintenance, cost factors, budgetary impact etc.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interface and coordinate global engineering projects to include contracting, coordinating and managing contractors and maintaining all aspects of the project.
  • Must be very methodical with strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills
