Job Description:

The Brewmaster will oversee the day-to-day operations of the brewing production which includes production, brewery maintenance, capital improvements, product development and people management. Works very closely with the Operations Manager and supervises the Senior Brewer & Assistant Brewers.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Responsible for all aspects of brewing operations, including equipment, utilities, raw materials, safety, personnel training, maintenance, and packaging.
  • Ensure all brewing procedures and policies are met.
  • Responsible for sanitation of the brewhouse and all brewery related areas.
  • Ensure all food safe and safety standards are met.
  • Responsible for all compliance related documentation.
  • Developing standards, procedures, and protocols for brewing; testing to ensure these standards are maintained; implementing detailed cleaning regiments; developing maintenance programs and safety schedules and protocols.
  • Works with the Operations Manager & 2Story Group team in order to develop new beer recipes; sourcing and ordering ingredients and inventory of ingredients and product; planning beer production to meet sales demand; ensuring quality and consistency of beer.
  • Develop production and recipe manuals and maintain production records and process control systems.
  • Perform brewery audits to ensure quality, consistency, traceability, and repeatability of brewing; Manages/conducts quality checks, process audits to ensure adherence to quality standards and continually makes efforts to match quality and process capability of production. 
  • Work with the Operations Manager to develop reports on brewing execution, quality and exception.
  • Provide timely update on process and formulation, material utilization etc to Operations Manager.
  • Travels when necessary to regional and national brewing events and stays current with technical Brewing literature and information.
  • Support Public Relations, Brand, and Marketing, as needed.
  • Works with the Operations Manager to supervise and manage the schedule of the Senior Brewer, and Assistant Brewers.
  • Champion, manage, and upkeep the ERP system.
Roll up your sleeves and do what’s necessary to get the job done and completes other duties as required within the same scope and level.

Job Requirements:

  • Formal Brewing Education plus a minimum of 5 years of brewing experience
  • Experience with development of beer recipes, sourcing of ingredients, and working in a facility with a taproom or brewpub
  • Must possess the technical skills to work with commercial brewing equipment; understanding of safety and food safe standards and government regulations;
  • Proven organizational, time management, and leadership skills with a keen eye for detail;
  • Ability to complete mathematical equations, understand of brewing science and ability to read and understand scientific instruments;
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and influence effectively’
  • Must have project management skills and be able to work under tight timelines;
  • Must be highly organized and able to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve, develop an action plan, and implement the plan;
  • Flexibility, dependable, and dedication 
  • Enthusiasm for sharing your passion for beer with staff and customers
