Key Objectives:
To assist the brewmaster with managing operations of the brewing process; brewhouse, fermentation/aging area, beer filtration and sterilization, and providing leadership with the respective departments

  • Assist with and manage the production planning – liaising with distribution director, Sales & Marketing Director, Production Manager and Director of Procurement
  • Responsible for inventory and ordering raw materials, filtration materials and aids, cleaning, and disinfection products; using Microsoft Navision
  • Supervising technological trials
  • Responsible for extract losses breakdown, leading and coaching improvement teams in identified areas
  • Ensuring measuring devices are calibrated and fully working – develop and implement calibration program for all instrumentation
  • Arrange departmental meetings; providing information, reports and training sessions
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring
  • Provide QA expertise through identification, development and implementation of quality processes and procedures for brewing and packaging to drive improvement in overall quality of product
  • Manage the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures of Brewhouse, Quality Assurance and Packaging to ensure compliance Company Quality Standards
  • Drive continual quality improvement as measured by key performance indicators, including internal and external audits

  • Manage Quality Incidents with the goal of investigating to root cause and implementing corrective actions to prevent incident reoccurrence
  • Act as a technical resource for the brewing and packaging teams
  • Assist through recommendation and assessment with other department managers to ensure Preventative Maintenance schedules are adequate and in line with our quality procedures and processes
  • Responsible of maintenance and continuous improvement of our document control program

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:   
  • Degree in chemistry, microbiology, fermentation science or similar science-based program
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in brewing/production/technological/QA departments in the brewing industry 
  • Experience in a managerial/technological position in operational/QA environment in the brewing industry
  • Strong technological background - knowledge and understanding of the beer-making process; must understand relationship between lab-determined analytical/microbiological parametres and technological steps
  • Experience with introducing and developing quality systems; GMP, HACCP, TPM are advantageous 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; communication and leadership, with ability to interact and influence at all levels
