Holiday Pairings

The holiday season is upon us and with it comes the opportunity to incorporate beer into your holiday pairings. We’re sure you can find many sources to pair beer with your dinner, but it’s also an opportune time to match a beer to holiday events such as:

In your quest to have the best lights on the block, you pull a Clark Griswold and blow your breaker panel.
Paring: Best not to mix electricity and alcohol but after calling the electrician, supervise the work while enjoying a gueuze. In true Clark fashion, make sure you explain in great detail how lambics are blended to distract from the electrical faux pas.

Hitting the purchase button and then noticing that your order will arrive sometime after January 5.
Pairing: An imperial stout should pair well with regret.

It’s December 24 and you forgot to buy batteries for all the new toys. Picture Christmas morning and the gentle sobs of your child when the toy doesn’t work.
Pairing: Get to the store. Fast. And while you’re out, this is your excuse to go get a growler of your favourite beer – after you pick up the batteries.

Assembling the 2,000 piece doll house at 1:00 am after the kids finally go to sleep.
Pairing: Two words: coffee beer. You’re in for an all-nighter. As a bonus, you can toss the spare parts in the empty bottle and hope the roof doesn’t collapse.

Don’t forget that challenging relative we all have.
Pairing: Better pull out the big guns and get comfy with a barley wine – you’ve got eight hours of small talk ahead of you.

From all of us at BrewingWork, we wish you a happy and safe holiday season and look forward to working with you in 2016. Cheers!
